This will be similar to the Conjunto workshop, but Miguel will guide an exploration of ways the accordion/concertina can lead, accompany, and ornament traditional Mexican and Latin-American music styles, songs and instrumental pieces.
About Miguel Govea
Miguel Govea is a multi-instrumentalist with a 40-year career in San Francisco. He records and performs vocals, trumpet, button accordion, mandolin, fiddle and bass, with an emphasis on the music of Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. He has taught students of all ages at the San Francisco Community Music Center, San Francisco Unified School District, SFJAZZ Center’s Education Programs, Centrum’s Festival of American Fiddle Tunes, Centrum’s VoiceWorks, and Freight & Salvage’s FiddleKids Camp.
