French Cafe Songs
Learn to sing songs from the classic French Café Music repertoire (Piaf, Trenet, Montand, Gainsbourg, Brassens, etc.) as well as some more modern songs. I’ll explain and translate the song, including where the song comes from, its social, political and historical context, and any hidden cultural references, and help with the pronunciation. And then of course we’ll sing the song together. I’ll have printed lyrics and chord charts. Prerequisites: if you speak French it helps, but that’s not necessary, many people who have taken this class did not speak French at all.
