Hurdy Gurdy
This workshop covers playing the instrument using traditional French dance music as a basis for learning to coordinate the left and the right hands. It focuses heavily on the use of the coup (buzzing) as a tool for accompanying the melody and dance. I offer one-on-one time offered for lessons and instrument adjustment outside of the normal class times, so please feel free to schedule private lesson time.
About Scott Gayman
Scott has been restoring, playing, and studying hurdy gurdies for 18 years. He has regular students in southern California and teaches at the only US hurdy gurdy festival in Indiana. He regularly spends time in France studying with master hurdy gurdy players and travels to play at festivals and music events throughout Europe. Scott teaches all levels from early beginner to advanced students. He also offers private time for students that would like to learn in a one-on-one setting.
