Improvise on the Mandolin
In this workshop, we’ll dig into soloing on basic blues, folk, and slow bluegrass styles on mandolin, with focus on improvising, playing behind singers and fitting in to a jam on a mandolin. You should be able to change chords smoothly in a few different keys in order to participate in this supportive and entertaining class.
About Booi Volk
Booi has been playing and performing on mandolin for more than 30 years, and over that time he has immersed himself in many styles of music, including Bluegrass, Swing, and Choro. His mandolin studies have taken him all over the world, from playing with a mandolin orchestra in Italy to late night Choro jams in Rio De Janeiro. He has studied intensively with many of today’s mandolin luminaries, including Mike Marshall, Don Stiernberg, and David Grisman. He can be found performing with his groups including Foxglove and Corca Baiscinn.
