Build your confidence dancing *suelta*, without a partner! Dive into the traditional Son dance step and timing, and learn how this tradition laid the foundation for what we know as “salsa” today. In this hour we will break down and practice basic steps, and incorporate various rhythmic movements and footwork combinations.

About Cora Hubbert

Cora has studied various styles of Cuban popular dance including Casino, Rueda, Son, and Danzon, with renowned teachers in the Bay Area and beyond. She danced with the performance groups Salsa Vale Todo and Rueda Vale Todo from 2010-2017, while she also immersed herself in many other traditional dance styles including Flamenco, Afro-Haitian, Afro-Cuban, and Brazilian dances.

Cora’s childhood and young adult life were deeply influenced by her family’s passion for traditional music, particularly Cuban and Puerto Rican. Cora is an elementary school teacher who currently resides in her hometown of Boonville, California with her partner and their 4-year-old son.
