This workshop will get you started with your first few chords and melodies, as well as some fundamental, but accessible, music theory concepts that will allow you to understand what you’re playing and how to adapt songs to your vocal range and preferences. Kids, Teens and Adults are all welcome! We’ll also have a look at a [banjolele](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/yp7rQLodTKM)-tuned the same as ukulele, but sounds like a banjo!

About Megan Harenburg

Megan Harenburg, a multi-instrumentalist and music educator at Mountain Music School in Scotts Valley, California, has a rich background in classical music and instrumental arrangement, and a great love of folk and jazz styles. Starting piano lessons at six and classical flute at eleven, she honed her skills, including studying abroad in Prague under  Zofie Volkalkova.

Recently she discovered a new passion for the ukulele under Dani Joy of Starlight Ukes, and founded a local chapter of the famed Ukulele Club of Santa Cruz, the Mountain Ukers. She is a compassionate teacher, guiding new learners of all ages through the first steps of ukulele playing with patience and expertise. Megan lives in the beautiful Santa Cruz Mountains with her husband – a ballet dancer – and four cats: one prince (Nicky), one scaredy-pillow (Katya), and two pranksters (Koshy and Wulfy.)
