Finding Your Musical Voice: creativity, expression & improvisation at the harp
How do we move beyond simply playing (or reading!) notes so that we make music that feels alive? In this friendly, hands-on workshop for intermediate/advanced harpists, we'll explore improvisation, variation, musical storytelling, and expressive playing. Drawing from world harp and historical harp practices, we'll discover hands-on ways for bringing more freedom, personality, and flow to your music. No previous improvisation experience is required, just your curiosity and a willingness to experiment. This workshop will be heavily influenced by your desires and goals!
Don’t have a harp? No problem! Email Eric Azumi at Lark in the Morning music store and he’ll bring one to rent to you at camp. The rental cost is $50, and you can apply that rental fee to purchase the harp when camp is over.
