About Rachel Goodman

Rachel Anne Goodman was bit by the folk bug early, surrounded by the burgeoning music scene of the Bay Area. Singing was always her passion. She has hosted folk/bluegrass radio shows on public radio stations around the U.S. where she’s interviewed many of her musical heroes such as Jean Ritchie, Mike Seeger, and Hazel Dickens. Rachel performs with The Coast Ridge Ramblers and Stone Circle, two bands steeped in American and Celtic music.

Rachel has taught at Redwood Music Camp, Lark Camp, Sweet’s Mill and Puget Sound Guitar Workshop. Her recent album of original songs is “California Morning” which debuted in 2023 in the top ten of the folk radio charts. Her radio documentary series, “Southern Songbirds: The Women of Early County and Old-Time Music preserved and celebrated the stories and songs of these unsung musical legends. When not doing music, she teaches media and podcasting at UC Santa Cruz.
